President's Message
Happy Thanksgiving! What a blessing the cooler weather and rain has been – well, if only the rain would come at night! It’s hard to believe that the Fall WTTA season is coming to an end already. Hopefully, your teams are staying on top of all of the make-up matches – good luck with those! Finish strong, Ladies! Captains, you are due for a nice holiday break for all your hard work keeping up with the many details of the rainouts, scoring entries and personnel issues. My hat goes off to you for your dedication to your teams. It may seem like a “thankless” job, but please know how much your players appreciate you. Just ask one of them to take your place and you’ll really hear how much you are loved for what you do!!
Most of all, please take the time to realize how incredibly fortunate we all are for having the time and health to enjoy each other and playing tennis. It is my hope that each of you is thankful for all your blessings. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends!

AWTA Monthly Meeting
In lieu of the monthly meeting, WTTA Team "Not Our Fault" will be hosting the annual holiday playday and pot luck at South Austin Tennis Center on Tuesday, December 8, 9:30-11:30. Please sign up by emailing Laurie Mertens at laurie.mertens@sbcglobal.net
There will be no charge for this event.

AWTA Grants Report
Many thanks to the Grant Committee chaired by Emaly Green for all their hard work on the grant applications received and for their recommendations to the board. $3,565 of your AWTA dollars will be spread throughout the community to grow the game of tennis for many of those less fortunate. The AWTA board members voted in September to fund the following grants:
* Pharr, Caswell, South Austin & Austin Tennis Centers - $300 each for a variety of equipment and improvements to the centers
*Austin Tennis Academy - $260 for a summer camp scholarship
*National Junior Tennis League - $300 for tennis racquets
*Set 2 Serve - $755 for supplies, volunteer expenses and court fees
*Capital Area Tennis Association - $300 to sponsor two players’ entry fee to the Invitational Tournament
* Central Texas Tennis Association - $750 for tennis racquets, balls, entry fees and school supplies
